ACCLIMATE Consortium Gathers in Paris for Fourth Project Meeting
From 1 to 3 June 2026, the ACCLIMATE consortium met in Paris for its fourth project meeting, hosted by IDDRI at Sciences Po. The meeting brought together project partners from across Europe, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United States, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast to discuss progress, share early findings, and coordinate the next phase of the project.
The three-day meeting provided an opportunity for partners to reflect on developments across all work packages and strengthen collaboration between the project's diverse research teams. Discussions opened with an overview of the project's overall progress and an exchange with members of the Advisory Board on emerging developments in the international climate policy landscape and their relevance for ACCLIMATE's work.
A significant part of the meeting focused on updates from the project's research activities. Partners presented progress on national policy assessments, stakeholder engagement processes, and the development of national low-emission and climate-resilient pathways. Country teams shared experiences and preliminary findings from work carried out in the European Union, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Senegal, India, Indonesia, the United States, and Brazil.
The consortium also reviewed ongoing efforts to improve modelling approaches and discussed how national and global perspectives can be better connected to support climate policy development. Sessions explored progress on global sectoral strategies, assessments of climate commitments, and analyses of international cooperative initiatives that contribute to climate action.
Dedicated discussions allowed partners to exchange lessons learned across sectors and countries, identify opportunities for collaboration between work packages, and reflect on upcoming milestones and deliverables. The meeting also included sessions on gender integration in climate policy modelling and pathway development, highlighting the importance of ensuring that climate strategies consider diverse social impacts and perspectives.
On the final day, partners reviewed communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities, discussed upcoming events and publications, and agreed on priorities for the coming months. The meeting concluded with a project management update and discussions on the next steps for delivering ACCLIMATE's objectives.
Summer School Focuses on Climate Pathways and Modelling
Following the project meeting, ACCLIMATE organised a Summer School on 3 and 4 June 2026, bringing together researchers and project partners for a series of interactive learning sessions.
The programme explored methods for designing policy-relevant national pathways, integrating gender considerations into climate policy modelling, representing long-term systemic transformations, and building climate policy-driven scenarios using the Pathway Designer tool. Participants also took part in practical exercises on geospatial energy access modelling and electrification planning.
